Dr. Resnansky

Dr. Alex Resnansky graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a Bachelors of Science degree in Chemistry.  His first two years of dental studies were completed at the late Fairleigh Dickinson College of Dental Medicine.  Preclinical preparation at this fine school resulted in Dr. Resnansky receiving the highest score on the comprehensive first part of the National Dental Board Examination in his graduating class.  After notification of Fairleigh Dickinson’s dental school closing Dr. Resnansky and seven other classmates transferred to complete their dental studies at the SUNY at Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine.  With an almost 10:1 preclinical didactic advantage over the Stony Brook dental students all Fairleigh Dickinson transfer students excelled in the Stony Brook patient treatment clinic.  This allowed Dr. Resnansky to earn honors in Periodontology both years at Stony Brook and attend the Cosmetic Dentistry Selective the first year it was offered to Senior dental students.

Fortunate to have mentors that guided and challenged him to restore some of the most complicated, comprehensive cases in the history of the Stony Brook patient care clinic.  All restorative work was performed and completed to the satisfaction of the specialists on the SUNY Stony Brook faculty which bestowed upon only Dr. Resnansky the prestigious “American Academy of Prosthodontist Undergraduate Achievement Award For High Academic & Clinical Achievement In Prosthodontics.”

With the highest score on Part I and the second highest score on Part II of the National Dental Board examination in his graduating class, Dr. Resnansky’s combined score on Part I and Part II placed him in the top 5% of all graduating dentist across the United States.  Perfect scores on the North East Regional Dental Board Examination, NERB, earned him a dental license to practice dentistry.

After graduating from Stony Brook in 1991 Dr. Resnansky went straight into private practice.  His love for teaching found him back at Stony Brook as part time Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry for a year.  During this time, staff member benefits provided Restorative Certification in the Noble Pharma, then known as the Branemark, Implant System.

Soon Dr. Resnansky found himself surgically placing as well as restoring dental implant cases, which lead to numerous certifications with various dental implant systems and membership in the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, AAID.  In search of more comprehensive training, taking the prestigious year-long MAXI Course in Implant Dentistry was the next logical step.  With completion of this course, publication of a review paper in a peer review journal, and passing the first part in the AAID Associate Fellowship Examination the path toward accreditation is well underway.

Membership in the International Congress of Oral Implantologist and fellowship status there soon followed. With Diplomate Status in the ABOI just around the corner.

Along the way Invisalign Certification was gained to help people straighten teeth without wires and brackets, the discomfort, and difficulty in hygiene they cause. With experience in treating numerous cases the highest level of training by Iinvisalign was offered and Certification Level II was achieved.

With all this going on why would anyone look for more? Here what Dr. Resnansky says about adding Laser Dentistry to the practice and membership in the World Clinical Laser Institute, “When a revolutionary new piece of equipment or technique comes out in dentistry there is a buzz, just like in the mainstream population with new consumer goods. Only time determines just how revolutionary this equipment or technique will be. The scientific evidence from the Waterlase Laser is demonstrating better results when used as an adjunct to conventional treatment. Patients heal better and faster with little or no discomfort and many procedures can be performed without injections. It is difficult to ignore such evidence.”

Dr. Resnansky truly believes that the Profession of Dentistry is a never ending learning experience as evidenced by him exceeding the yearly North Carolina 15 hour minimum Continuing Education requirement many times over.

Over the years Dr. Resnansky has enjoyed membership in the ADA, AGD, NAID, AAID, ICOI, NC Wake County Dental Association, NY Suffolk County Dental Association. He is also a founding member of the Internation Honorary Stomatognathic Alliance.

In addition to continuing education courses, journals and texts in Implant Dentistry, Cosmetic Dentistry, and Periodontology keep Dr. Resnansky’s profession reading schedule full.

When he is not working, he tremendously enjoys spending time with his wife and children.
